As discussed during the dispatch call, an officer was out at a highway rest area near Shaw Creek and requested a plate check on a blue Toyota RAV4. The registration reportedly came back clear with a valid expiration date.

As discussed during the dispatch call, law enforcement contacted people with an open wood campfire in the Rio Grande National Forest during active Stage 2 fire restrictions. The individuals were advised of the restrictions and appeared to be putting the fire out, and no fire personnel were requested.

Hazardous Material Spill

As discussed during the dispatch call, emergency crews responded to a hazardous diesel spill from a semi truck near Shaw Creek by La Veta Pass. An estimated 30 to 50 gallons of diesel reportedly leaked, and responders stated the spill was semi-contained with absorbent material while the truck remained on scene.

As discussed during the dispatch call, radio traffic reports a fairly large diesel fuel spill from a semi trailer parked overnight in the Shaw Creek grass area off Highway 160 between Del Norte and South Fork. South Fork Fire, state patrol, and the county emergency manager appear to have been notified, and hazmat may also be contacted to assess the spill.
